MSFH Improvements Mr. Build Can Help With

Mr. Build focuses on opening-protection improvements that may qualify for My Safe Florida Home funding when they are recommended in your Initial Inspection Report.

Impact Windows

Impact-rated windows provide permanent protection for eligible openings while also improving security, comfort, and weather resistance. If specific windows are recommended for improvement, we can help you compare Florida-approved impact window options for your home.

Impact-Rated Exterior Doors

Exterior doors may qualify as opening protection when recommended by the MSFH inspection. Available options include hurricane-rated entry and patio doors designed to meet applicable Florida Building Code requirements.

Exterior louvered hurricane shutters mounted on windows, designed to provide ventilation and storm protection for coastal homes.

Hurricane Shutters and Storm Protection

Impact windows are not the only option for protecting eligible openings. Depending on your inspection report and the needs of your home, hurricane shutters or other qualifying storm protection systems may be appropriate.

Garage Doors, Skylights, and Other Openings

The MSFH Program may also recommend protection for garage doors, skylights, and other vulnerable openings. Your inspection report determines which improvements are eligible, and our team can help identify which recommendations match the services we provide.

Already Have Your MSFH Inspection Report?

Your Initial Inspection Report should guide the project.

Before requesting an estimate, locate the section identifying your Recommended Improvements. Grant funding can only be used for improvements recommended by that inspection and later confirmed during the Final Inspection.

When you meet with Mr. Build, bring a copy of the report so our team can:

If an opening already has compliant hurricane protection, MSFH generally will not fund replacing that protection simply because you prefer another product. For example, you generally cannot exchange compliant shutters for impact windows using grant funds.

Why Choose Mr. Build for Your MSFH Project?

Florida Certified General Contractor

Mr. Build is a Florida Certified General Contractor, License #CGC1527282. MSFH requires qualifying mitigation work to be completed by a properly licensed Florida contractor.

Serving Florida Homeowners Since 1976

Mr. Build has served homeowners in Bradenton, Sarasota, and Florida’s Gulf Coast since 1976, providing window, door, remodeling, and storm protection services designed for Florida conditions.

Impact Windows, Doors and Storm Protection

Instead of trying to make every type of MSFH improvement fit one contractor, we focus this service on the opening-protection products Mr. Build installs, including impact windows, exterior doors, hurricane shutters, and related storm protection.

Permitting and Installation Experience

MSFH-funded improvements must meet applicable permitting, inspection, product, and installation requirements. Mr. Build handles the construction side of the project while you remain responsible for managing your MSFH application through the state portal.
