Joe Long

Joe Long brings over 25 years of construction experience as owner of Mr. Build Inc. in Florida. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northern Illinois University in 1995, Joe launched Keystone Custom Homes in Illinois in 2003. For 15 years, he oversaw the construction of multi-million dollar luxury homes before relocating to Florida in 2018.

Eager to continue his career in the construction industry, Joe obtained his Florida General Contractor’s license and purchased Mr. Build with his wife, Melanie. They quickly expanded the company’s core offerings of replacement windows, doors, and siding to include storm protection, Florida rooms, acrylic rooms, plantation shutters, and sliding glass door installations.

Under Joe’s experienced leadership alongside his wife Melanie, Mr. Build provides homeowners flawless remodeling experiences. His engineering background allows Joe to manage projects with a keen eye for quality and efficiency. Driven by a passion for construction, Joe Long continues to grow Mr. Build as a premier home improvement company in Florida.

We had hurricane windows installed by Mr. Build and couldn't be happier with the results! …. The windows themselves are VERY SOLID! We won't be worrying about hurricane winds anymore! Our new windows are very attractive and make such a difference in the appearance of the house—we just love them! We live on a busy street so are especially pleased with the way they cut down on the street noise. I'm sure we'll be saving on our a/c bill as well, since the windows are very tight. The job was completed in two days, and Chris and Will left everything spotless! I can't say enough good things about Mr. Build--I recommend this company enthusiastically and without reservation! I replaced single pane slider windows that rattled and leaked air. Mr, Build had previously replaced windows in the community. The window openings were measured and Hurricane windows installed. The windows were brown on the exterior as specified by the association. They were installed by a 2 man crew who were very clean. The finished job was seamless. I was very pleased with the quality of the windows and the fit and finish. They even sent a window washer out to clean the windows.

Mr Build did a lanai enclosure for us with custom floor to ceiling sliding doors and sliding screened windows on the side. It is too good to be true. Joe, the owner, was so great to work with. He put huge effort into being sure the measurements were perfect and worked closely with our pool company to coordinate the two different projects. The installer was not just a nice fellow but clearly knew his business after many years of installing doors and windows. As with most construction projects things happen that effect the timing but Joe made every effort to keep me informed. At the end our new enclosed lanai is effectively a whole new room on our home and will be used year round. I would give Mr Build and Joe a 5 out of 5 rating.

Overall experience was Very Good. We had all the windows replaced as well as shutters installed on the lanai - installers were very conscientious and took great care in making sure that the impact to the interior of the house was minimal. There were manufacturing defects on two of the windows that didn't get noticed until after they were installed - they were replaced later without question. Would've given 5 stars but had communication issues concerning the start date of the project and a couple of the window features were missed. Other than that would recommend this company for your hurricane protection needs.

I was satisfied with this project until I received a call from Mr Build informing me we needed to schedule a final inspection. It s been weeks since this project was completed. To make matters worse I was told the window for inspection was 8:00-4:00pm which means you have to stay at home all day waiting on someone to show up.

Mr. Build replaced our old windows in our 1909 home. He replaced them with high impact windows since we are in an area they are required. We were very pleased with the quote we were given. I had contacted 2 other companies and they came out to look at the job in a timely manner but never got back to me with a quote even after I called them again..Mr Build came out when they said he would, looked at what we wanted, measured and gave me a quote right then. Overall Job Well Done. Nice finish on inside and out, with sealing exterior to existing structure. Workers utilized floor covering and draped plastic sheets over furniture prior to starting. Minimal noise and delay before new window installed after old ones removed. Installers were polished pros in looks, behavior and communication. Adhered to start and stop schedule previously communicated. Only CONS, maybe some wall dings where paint touch-up needed. Workers cleaned-up with vacuum at end of each work day. Project: 7 impact windows, 2 days, 2 men, approximately 12 hours on-site.
